A list of best-selling smartphones for Q1 2024 has been revealed by Counterpoint Research. The company not only showed us that list, but it compared that list to last year’s.

Having said that, let’s just right into it. As expected, Apple managed to claim the top spot, as it did last year. A different phone is at the top, but still. In fact, the first four spots are claimed by Apple, as they were last year.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max was the best-selling smartphone, and it’s followed by the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 14. Those four smartphones managed to claim a percentage of 4.4%, 4.3%, 3.7%, and 1.9%.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra is fifth-placed with 1.9%, and it’s followed by the Galaxy A15 5G and Galaxy A54, its siblings. Those two phones claimed 1.5% and 1.4% of sales, respectively.
Only iPhones & Galaxy phones are in the top 10 list
The top 10 list is closed out by the iPhone 15 Plus, Galaxy S24, and Galaxy A34. The iPhone 15 Plus claimed 1.3% of sales, while the other two phones stand at 1%. As you can see, it’s a total domination of Apple and Samsung here, as was last year.
In Q1 2023, the iPhone 14 claimed the top spot and was followed by the iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 13. The rest of the list was reserved for Galaxy smartphones, save for the iPhone 14 Plus which managed to squeeze itself into the 7th spot.
7 out of 10 phones on the list are actually priced above $600. That shows us a trend towards premiumization, says Counterpoint Research. The ‘Pro’ iPhones are also growing in popularity. Their share in 2020 was 24%, and now it’s 60% of Apple’s sales in Q1 2024.
