Huawei has just officially announced its new smartwatch, the Huawei Watch Fit 3. The third-gen model of the Watch Fit actually resembles the Apple Watch quite a bit, as leaks suggested it will. To a degree that many people wouldn’t even notice the difference.

Just to be clear, this is a global launch of the Huawei Watch Fit 3. The device will be making its way to a number of markets around the world, but more on its availability and price later on. Let’s talk about the device itself first, let’s see what it offers.
The Huawei Watch Fit 3 has a square body and display. It has a rotating crown on the right-hand side, which doubles as a menu button. There’s a second action button below the rotating crown.
It comes with a built-in speaker, and proprietary watch bands
This smartwatch does have a speaker built-in, and the same goes for microphones. It may seem at first that you’ll need proprietary bands for this smartwatch, and that is accurate, unfortunately. You cannot use just about any smartwatch band. This watch has the ‘Link’ design, as straps can be removed by a press of a button at the bottom of the watch.
The Huawei Watch Fit 3 does come with TruSleep 4.0 and TruSeen 5.5 tech for “holistic health monitoring”. Users also get to experience 5 new sports modes which the company added. Those modes include padel and smart sports suggestions.
This is the company’s thinnest & lightest square smartwatch to date
Huawei opted for aluminum for the body of this smartwatch. The watch weighs only 26 grams, and it’s only 9.9mm thick. It’s the company’s thinnest and lightest square smartwatch to date, actually.
Huawei’s latest smartwatch features a 1.82-inch 2.5D AMOLED display. We’re looking at a 77.4% screen-to-body ratio here. The maximum brightness this display can achieve is 1,500 nits, which is not too shabby.
The company’s Stay Fit app “has been upgraded to offer a one-stop wrist-based personal trainer for weight management”. It has a global database of dietary calories across 50 countries and provides nutritional analysis too.
The Huawei Health app offers over 660 workout courses
On the flip side, the Huawei Health app offers over 660 workout courses for you to choose from. There are over 100 sports modes on offer on the Huawei Watch Fit 3.
When it comes to battery life, Huawei says this smartwatch offers up to 10 days of battery life under normal use. Even with power use, it should be able to last about a week. The watch also recharges quickly, and it recharges via a proprietary magnetic connector (pogo pins).
The Huawei Watch Fit 3 goes on sale starting today
The Huawei Watch Fit 3 goes on sale today in the UK and Europe. Users can grab it from the Huawei Store, while retailers will start selling the watch starting on May 22.
The Huawei Watch Fit 3 with Black, Pink, Green or Moon White Fluoroelastomer Strap is priced at £139.99 / €159. The model with a Gray Nylon Strap has the same price tag, while the Pearl White model with a Leather Strap will set you back £159.99 / €179.
