New Peacock price increase arrives just in time for the 2024 Summer Olympics

Peacock has just announced that the service is going to be getting a $2 price increase starting in July. New customers will see Peacock rise to $7.99 per month for Peacock Premium (ad-supported), and the Premium Plus plan will move from $11.99 to $13.99 per month. Current subscribers will see the price increase effective on August 17.

This comes about a year after Peacock last raised its prices by $1 for both plans while also removing its free membership for new users. Comcast recently noted that Peacock now has 34 million total subscribers and added 3 million in the first quarter of the year.

So why is Peacock raising prices? Well, there are lots of theories as to why any streamer is raising prices, but it all comes down to their costs and how much it costs to make or get content. Peacock is spending more than ever before on sports, and those costs of course get passed down to the consumer. Of course, the Summer Olympics are taking place in August, and this price increase conveniently goes into effect right before the Games start in Paris.

Even with this price increase, Peacock is still one of the best all-around streamers out there

With a new starting price of $7.99 per month or $13.99 per month for ad-free, Peacock is still one of the most well-rounded streamers out there today. For that price, you’re getting a whole bunch of great content from NBCUniversal, as well as The Premier League, WWE, NFL during the Fall and Winter and every two years – the Olympics. That’s not bad at all for that price. Netflix charges you twice as much for far less.

Peacock has also not started to crack down on password sharing like Disney and Netflix have. Putting another feather in its mascot for making it a really solid streaming service. If you haven’t tried out Peacock yet, it’s still a good time to check it out.
