New Sony Xperia PRO-I reportedly in the works, key features leaked

New Sony Xperia Pro I similar design

A few days ago, Sony introduced its latest smartphones called the Xperia 1 VI and Xperia 10 VI. The former is the brand’s latest flagship offering, while the latter is a mid-ranger. Now, the Japanese electronics giant is reportedly planning to launch a new camera-centric smartphone for professionals. The company is allegedly working on the new Sony Xperia PRO-I.

Ahead of the launch, the Insider Sony X account has leaked the key specifications of the new Sony Xperia PRO-I. In addition, the source has also revealed a few details regarding the design of the upcoming handset.

The new Sony Xperia PRO-I will have a 1-inch 50MP main camera with ZEISS optics

According to the source, the successor to 2021’s Xperia PRO-I could be launched as the Xperia Pro C. The handset will have professional-grade camera specs loaded inside a much more compact form factor than its predecessor. The device will allegedly have a 6-inch OLED display with an anti-reflection coating, instead of a 6.5-inch screen. The handset will also have a 2K resolution, just like the recently launched Xperia 1 VI. Notably, the flagship will flaunt ZEISS camera technology, just like its predecessor.

In the camera department, the Xperia Pro C could have a 1-inch 5MP primary camera on the back. The main shooter will have an aperture of f/1.8, a 20mm focal length, and optical image stabilization. The device’s main sensor will have support for RAW 12-bit and 14-bit DCG RAW shooting. The source speculates that it could be an OmniVision sensor.

Furthermore, the Xperia Pro C may have a 12MP secondary snapper with autofocus. The sensor could offer 4K recording at 120fps, 10-bit 420 S-LOG gamma curve, and HLG recording capabilities. The secondary camera might have support for 60fps RAW recording, Sony S-Cine-tone and Creative Look. The two shooters could be aided by another 12MP 20mm lens with support for 4K 60fps HDR recording.

The Xperia PRO-I’s successor could flaunt the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

Apart from revealing the camera specs, Insider Sony has also leaked some other specs of the upcoming Xperia PRO-I handset. The phone is said to house the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset under the hood. The base variant of the device will have 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Notably, even with a smaller 6-inch screen, the new Xperia PRO model could pack a much bigger 5,000mAh battery. The device is also said to have a revamped 45W PD fast charging solution.

Unfortunately, the source didn’t mention a timeframe for the launch. Since the company has just released its latest flagship, the new PRO series offering could launch sometime in Q4.
