OpenAI confirms an event on Monday

It looks like the world is gearing up for two big events happening next week. One of them is Google I/O, which is going down on Tuesday. Well, just one day before that, OpenAI is also hosting an event. What is the company going to announce? We have no idea!

Recently, we’ve been following rumors that OpenAI was going to announce its long-rumored search engine. This is something we expect to be an affront to Google, as the company is kind of a big deal on the search engine scene. However, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman dispelled rumors of a search engine announcement in a short and sweet tweet. “not gpt-5, not a search engine, but we’ve been hard at work on some new stuff we think people will love! feels like magic to me.”

The statement also extinguished rumors of the company announcing GPT-5. GPT-4 has been out for quite some time, and we’ve all been wondering when the company plans to bring the next generation. so, it appears that people looking for the next cheap model will be disappointed.

OpenAI is hosting an event on Monday

The official OpenAI X account just posted a short post. The company is streaming a live event on its official website starting at 1:00 p.m. EST or 10:00 a.m. PST. In the post, the company states that it’s going to be previewing some ChatGPT and GPT-4 updates. That’s all that the post says. It gives no other clues as to what these updates will involve. However, if it’s hosting an entire live event, then there should definitely be some significant changes coming.

Usually, when OpenAI releases a new update to ChatGPT or its other products, it simply makes an extended blog post. However, to dedicate the time to an entire event, the company must have something significant in the chamber. We’ll find out what the company has planned soon, so mark your calendars!
