Samsung‘s Galaxy Ring could be an expensive piece of tech. The upcoming smart ring, rumored to offer an extensive set of health monitoring features, could cost around $300-$350. That would make it costlier than Galaxy watches and in the same price range as the Oura Ring, the most popular smart ring right today and its direct competitor.
The Galaxy Ring may cost more than Samsung’s smartwatches
The Galaxy Ring has been in development for a long time. Samsung took its time to refine the product before bringing it to the market. Well, it isn’t on sale yet. The company teased the ring during the Galaxy S24 launch in January and unveiled it at MWC 2024 in February. However, it didn’t share more details. We are still awaiting its specs, price, and availability details.
Leaks have revealed a thing or two about the Galaxy Ring, including confirming nine sizes. However, there has been no word yet on its price. Noted X tipster Yogesh Brar has just claimed that the upcoming Samsung ring will cost in the range of $300-$350 in the US. The tipster also shared the Galaxy Ring’s expected price in India. It will cost ₹35,000 in the country.
These prices are higher than what Samsung charges for its Galaxy Watch 6 smartwatches. The upcoming Galaxy Watch 7 may also cost less than the Galaxy Ring. The Korean firm wants to make the ring an alternative wearable health tracker for people who don’t like wearing a bulky watch to sleep. It may include all kinds of sensors and software tools for health monitoring.
This might still not be enough to justify a higher price tag than the latest smartwatches. The Galaxy Ring is likely to lack built-in GPS, making it unsuitable for runners and many other health freaks who use GPS to track various outdoor activities. Battery life is another concern, particularly for smaller sizes. It is also unclear if all sizes will pack the same set of sensors and features.
Samsung may officially launch the device in July
Despite making an appearance at two different events, Samsung has yet to officially launch the Galaxy Ring. That may happen in July at the company’s next Galaxy Unpacked event, rumored to take place on July 10 in Paris, France. The event will also bring the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 foldables, as well as the Galaxy Watch 7 series. The Galaxy Buds 3 Pro may also debut at the same event.
