ASUS ROG Thor III PSU goes official at Computex 2024

ASUS THOR III

ASUS has expanded its range of power supply units (PSUs) at this year’s Computex by introducing the ROG Thor III. The brand’s newest Thor series PSU flaunts some major upgrades over its predecessors. The new device also has a familiar OLED display that provides real-time information about the system. It is magnetic, allowing users to remove it from their PSU and attach it anywhere else on their desktop for maximum visibility.

ASUS Thor III flaunts GaN MOSFET tech to deliver high levels of power efficiency

The ASUS ROG Thor III power supply unit is designed for high-end systems. The PSU utilizes the GaN (Gallium Nitrate) MOSFET technology, which helps it provide high power efficiency. Notably, the same tech allows ASUS to adopt a better component layout for enhanced cooling. It can provide up to 1,600 watts of power, making it suitable for powerful systems utilizing PCIe hardware.

The Thor III sports an intelligent voltage stabilizer, which utilizes a GPU voltage sensor to ensure a stable power supply to the GPU. In addition, it can avoid CPU clock drops to provide a smoother performance and an immersive gaming experience. Unlike the Thor II, which has the 12VHWPR power connector support via adapters, the Thor III natively supports this connector.

The ROG Thor III gets a turbo cooling mode and 80 PLUS Titanium certification

There’s a turbo mode onboard to deliver maximum cooling power whenever necessary to achieve optimal performance. This is useful for users who massively overclock their machines or run a demanding workload. The PSU can provide high energy efficiency and performance in various load conditions, thanks to the 80 PLUS Titanium certification.

Another highlight of the Thor III 1600W power supply is its two 12V-2×6 power connectors for GPUs. The PSU can support multiple high-performance grade RTX 4090 cards for an immersive gaming machine. Besides that, the PSU is ATX 3.1 compliant and is backed by a 10-year warranty.

ASUS hasn’t yet revealed the pricing and availability details of the ROG Thor III 1600W PSU at the moment. Since it is made for some serious high-performance RIGs, it will cost some serious bucks.

Hopefully, ASUS will reveal more details about the new PSU soon, so stay tuned. In the meantime, check out the other cool tech ASUS showcased at the Computex 2024 event.
