Samsung is expected to roll out a major camera update for the Galaxy S24 series in June. This update may address various camera shortcomings on the new flagships. However, it still may not unlock the true potential of the cameras. A bigger update will reportedly follow in July with One UI 6.1.1 onboard. It could finally enable the Galaxy S24 Ultra to break the shackles and show its real camera capabilities.

One UI 6.1.1 to bring massive camera improvements to the Galaxy S24

The Galaxy S24 series debuted with Android 14-based One UI 6.1. Samsung has already pushed the new version to other eligible models. It is now preparing to introduce One UI 6.1.1 with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 in July. Based on Android 14, it should be a relatively minor update, primarily containing foldable-specific features. However, reputed X tipster Ice Universe says the Galaxy S24 series will also get it.

According to them, Samsung has begun internal testing of One UI 6.1.1 for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, and possibly other Galaxy S24 models. The current test firmware has the build number S928BXXU2AXEB, though the public release may come with a different one. As far as the content is concerned, it should bring several new features to the latest Samsung flagship. Camera improvements may be the biggest attraction, though.

Unfortunately, details are scarce. We cannot tell what has been changed or improved. Perhaps Samsung is still in the early stages of One UI 6.1.1 development and testing. The June update may be almost ready, so it may have built the new firmware version on top of that. All we want is for the company to unlock the true potential of the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s powerful camera setup. It currently feels worse than the Galaxy S23 Ultra in some areas.

The update may arrive in about two months

Rumors say Samsung will launch the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 on July 10. Or maybe on July 24 if a doubtful new report turns out to be accurate. One UI 6.1 will roll out to older foldable and the Galaxy S24 series following their launch. So, we might get the update in the second half of July or early September.

Hopefully, Samsung hasn’t canceled the rumored June camera update for the Galaxy S24 series. The new flagships received the May patch on the first day of the month. It remains to be seen when the company rolls out the June patch. More importantly, whether it contains camera improvements, we will let you know when we have more information.
