How to get started in Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile

Call of Duty Warzone Mobile Get Started

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is just around the corner and you might be wondering what you need to do to get started before its official launch. Or maybe you weren’t even aware of the official release date. If you’ve somehow missed it, or you simply forgot, Activision has confirmed the game is set for its global release on March 21, 2024. That means there are only 9 days left before the game is available to all players around the world. It’ll be available for both Android and iOS devices as well. So no matter your chosen platform, you’ll be able to drop in with your squad and attempt to grab victory as the last team standing.

With that being said, if you aren’t sure how to get started with the game when it drops, this guide is here to help. There are a few things you’ll want to do if you want to be ready for launch day. If you’re a seasoned veteran in Warzone on PC or console but this will be your first experience with a shooter on mobile devices, this guide can also serve as a way to help onboard you for a smooth gameplay experience. So now that that’s out of the way, let’s jump into it.

How to get started in Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile if you’re new to the Call of Duty series

There are a few things you can do to get started and prepare for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile if you’re looking to jump in right away. Whether that’s with a squad or you’re planning to drop in solo. Here’s what you should be looking to do first if you’re new to Call of Duty.

Set up an Activision account

Activision Account Setup

Your first step should be to set up an Activision account. You’ll be required to set up an account to play but that’s not the point. The main reason for the account is because this is how Activision will link your game to you. So if you change devices, you don’t lose all of your progress and have to start over. The main reason why this is important of course, is because Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile shares progression with the PC and console versions of the game.

With that said, you’ll want to make sure you set up an account and then use that account for all platforms. This way any progress you make in Warzone Mobile, will be available on PC and console. This counts for multiple elements of the game. This includes the battle pass, character level XP, weapon level XP, camo challenges, and more. Progression is also shared the other way around. So as an example, let’s say you start playing on mobile. You gain a few levels and unlock a few new weapons. Then you pick the game back up on PC. All of that stuff you unlocked on mobile will be available on PC.

Now let’s say that you make even more progress on PC. When you go back to mobile, that new progress from PC will be available. So, make sure you set up your account ASAP. You want this out of the way so all you have to do is log in. Especially if servers end up congested with lots of players trying to play all at once. Doing account setup early could save you some time with getting in on day one.

Try Call of Duty: Warzone out on PC or console

If you have a PC or a console, then I would highly recommend you give Warzone on either of those platforms a try before jumping into Warzone Mobile. You’ve already set up your Activision account. So you’re good to go on that front. Also keep in mind that Call of Duty: Warzone is free on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. You can install the game at no charge and try things out.

The reason why I suggest doing this is two-fold. First, it’ll get you familiar with the game in general and how things will work. Now the control inputs will be different on mobile if you use the touch controls. But you’ll know what everything does and that’ll help with a smoother gameplay experience on Mobile. Secondly, this will give you a chance to level up a little bit and even unlock a few weapons. Maybe level those up too so you can go into Warzone Mobile with something other than the basic, barebones loadout.

By all means, jump into Warzone Mobile fresh if this is how you want to do it. However, lots of players will be jumping in who already play on PC and/or console. And all of the progress they’ve made will be available to them. If you don’t feel like having a disadvantage on Mobile right from the start, get things going on PC or console first.

Maybe give Call of Duty: Mobile a go

Call Of Duty Mobile

I only say this because it’s been out for a few years and its controls are touch-based. If you’re planning to use the touch controls with Warzone Mobile, it’s not a bad idea to get familiar with how touch controls in a Call of Duty game work. Now things won’t be completely the same. However, it’ll be a good idea to familiarize yourself with what it’s like to move around and shoot in Call of Duty using the touchscreen.

That being said, nothing will be shared between Call of Duty: Mobile and Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile.

How to get started in Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile if you play on PC or console

If you play Call of Duty games on PC or console and have been doing so for years, then you’re no doubt familiar with how Call of Duty works. A few things obviously change from release to release. But the same basic principles apply. You level up your character level, unlock new weapons, level those, and grind camo challenges. All of this will be available in Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile too. So that won’t change.

The best part is that all of the progression systems will be the same. So you won’t have to learn a completely new system. You can just keep doing things the way you’ve been doing them. Say you’ve already started working on getting the Interstellar camo for your weapons. Well, you can pick back up where you left off in the mobile version of the game. But you will want to do a few things to prep for the mobile version if this is your first experience with a mobile shooter. So here are some steps you can take to make the process easier.

Try out Call of Duty: Mobile

The same reason we suggest players new to the Call of Duty series try out Call of Duty: Mobile is the reason why we suggest it to seasoned players who have never touched a mobile shooter before. To familiarize yourself with the control system. Movement and plenty of other elements will feel the same in Warzone Mobile, and it’s not a bad idea to know how the touch controls feel for these inputs.

However, touch controls will not be mandatory. You will be able to connect controllers to your phone if you prefer to play Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile with physical controls.

Find a good controller to use

Call of Duty Warzone Mobile Backbone One Prestige Edition (2)

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will support controllers. And the good news is that multiple controller types will be compatible. This includes options designed for mobile like the Backbone One. It will also support the Xbox Wireless controller, the DualSense controller, and likely the DualShock 4. Other mobile controllers and Bluetooth controllers should work too, like some from Turtle Beach, and potentially the Razer Kishi V2 and Kishi V2 Pro (which is what I currently use for most mobile games).

If you play the game on a PC or console then you should already have a controller that will work with the game. So there would be no need to buy a new one. One thing to keep in mind though is you’ll probably want a way to mount the phone to the controller. We might suggest considering something like the Backbone One, though. Activision announced a special edition version in partnership with Backbone that comes with free Double XP tokens. And those are always good to have in excess.

Pre-register on Google Play or the App Store

One last thing I’d recommend is pre-registering if you haven’t already done so. You can do this on Google Play or the Apple App Store. Doing so will net you some free in-game rewards since Activision long met its pre-registration goals for this game. And these include weapon blueprints, an operator skin, and more. Who doesn’t like free stuff? If you want to pre-register you can find the game on Google Play.
