Not many people are interested in knowing about Bluetooth audio chips, but the OPPO MariSilicon Y, the one OPPO just announced, is rather interesting. Why? Well, because it brings some major improvements to audio.

OPPO MariSilicon Y Bluetooth chip delivers wired audio quality

The name of this chip is the MariSilicon Y, and it has been introduced at the OPPO INNO Day 2022 event. The MariSilicon Y follows the MariSilicon X, which got announced last year. The MariSilicon X is actually an NPU, though, not a Bluetooth audio chip.

In any case, the MariSilicon Y is a self-developed Pro Bluetooth Pack that increases Bluetooth bandwidth. It increases it by a massive 50%, actually. OPPO compared this with “the highest spec Bluetooth SoCs on the market”.

This chip is equipped with the URLC codec technology, and a dedicated NPU with up to 590 GOPS of on-device computing power. OPPO’s new chip can transmit 24-bit/192kHz “ultra-clear lossless audio through Bluetooth for the first time ever”.

OPPO actually says you can get the same quality as if you connected your headphones via a wire. Needless to say, this is quite exciting, at least for you audiophiles out there.

In addition to this Bluetooth chip, OPPO also announced two other products today. The OPPO OHealth H1 and OPPO Air Glass 2. Let’s talk about the former first, shall we.

The OPPO OHealth H1 is a multifunctional health monitor

It has high-precision sensors and “industry-leading health algorithms”. It is also extremely light at just 95 grams. Thanks to its ergonomic build, it’s also easy to handle.

OPPO also announced Air Glass 2 Assisted Reality Glasses

The company also demoed its Air Glass 2 product during the event. These are Assisted Reality Glasses, and they weigh only 38 grams. They include the world’s first resin SRG-diffractive waveguide lenses, these are developed by OPPO, actually.

Those lenses support vision correction, and further customization. OPPO claims these lenses are indistinguishable from the ones on regular glasses.

The OPPO Air Glass 2 will be able to make phone calls, conduct real-time translation, provide location-based navigation, convert voice into text, and provide various other “smart” experiences.
