The Xbox Design Lab is your go-to spot for getting a controller that’s unique to you, and today Microsoft has announced that you can now choose from different Vapor designs. Microsoft’s ‘Vapor’ design was introduced last year with the Stormcloud Vapor controller. It featured a misty blue top case that indeed looked like a storm cloud. And now you can design your own controller with this look in six different colors.
The colors include Stormcloud too, so if you liked the Stormcloud Vapor but wanted to put your own spin on it, now you can. The remaining colors include Nocturnal, Electric, Fire, Cyber, and Dream. The Vapor design is only available as a selection for the front of the controller. But there are tons of color options for the back. And you’ll be able to find at least one that goes well with every single Vapor color.
The Vapor patterns run you an extra $9.99 on top of the $69.99 starting price. So if you don’t add any other extras you’re looking at $80 for the Vapor setup of your choosing. However, the best part about the Design Lab is the customization and that’ll cost a little bit more, but it’s worth it.
Xbox Design Lab Vapor controllers don’t come with a dynamic background
One of the cooler details about the Stormcloud Vapor controller was that it came with an exclusive dynamic background for your Xbox console. The Vapor options in the Design Lab shop don’t offer these. So you may want to keep that in mind when considering one. That being said, you can still buy the Stormcloud Vapor controller. Microsoft is also introducing a new special edition Vapor controller in the Dream color, which also comes with its own matching dynamic background for your console.
The special edition models you can buy also feature matching ABXY buttons. Another detail you won’t be able to select from with the Design Lab creations. The Dream Vapor special edition controller is up for pre-order right now for $69.99. You can get it directly from Microsoft’s Xbox Store. You should also eventually be able to find it at Amazon and other retailers.
The Design Lab options are available right away though and they appear to be shipping out immediately.
