The Google Play Store is getting a new feature that lets you ask your friends to make payments for your Google Play purchases. Although you could pay for in-app purchases or services in the Play Store, there wasn’t any feature that let users seek payment help from others.

Earlier, you could pay for Google Play purchases using debit cards, credit cards, and other multiple payment options. However, the latest feature will allow seeking payment help, just in case there’s any problem making payment in the Play Store.

A new Google Play Store feature lets you seek payment help from your friends

While this year’s Google I/O was centered around Gemini and AI, the company made some feature announcements around its apps and services including Google Play Store. And, now it seems we are starting to see those features rolling out. Android Authority reports that now you’ll see an “Ask someone else to pay” button on the Play Store’s payment page. By the name itself, one can tell what this feature is intended to do.

Not to forget, the ‘Ask someone else to pay’ option is only available if you are purchasing a service or in-app item from an app that uses Google Play Billing, with the condition that the app developer has integrated it with version six or newer Play Billing Library’s version. After all this, you must be wondering how the ‘Ask someone else to pay’ feature works, right?

Here’s how to use the “Ask someone else to pay” feature

Well, when you select the new option, the Google Play Store will display another button called “Share payment link.” Once you click on that button, the Play Store will generate a shareable payment link. Let’s say you want to ask your friend to help with your Google Play purchases. All you need is to copy the generated payment link and send it to your friend. On the other hand, the payment link recipient has to click on the shared link. And, make the payment for you, it’s that simple.

Having that said, the latest feature is only available in India as of now. There’s no word on whether Google is planning to extend this feature to other regions. But one thing is certain, the new feature could increase Play Store’s purchases down the line. Moreover, it will cater to Google Play users dependent on their parents or family.
