Earlier in February, OnePlus introduced its latest smartwatch dubbed the OnePlus Watch 2 at MWC. The successor to the OnePlus Watch, the brand’s latest wearable is powered by Wear OS 4, which sports a new hybrid interface. Since its launch, the new OnePlus watch has received multiple updates with new features. Now, the company has released a new major firmware update for the OnePlus Watch 2, which brings two new apps and a handful of other optimizations.

The OnePlus Watch 2’s new update brings news Barometer and Relax apps

The biggest highlight of the new OnePlus Watch 2 OS update is the addition of Barometer and Relax apps to the system. As its name suggests, the Relax app offers help with guided breathing. It takes you through various breathing exercises that are meant to help you relax. This app brings the latest OnePlus smartwatch close to the other popular options from the likes of Google and Samsung, which already offer guided breathing exercises.

As for the new Barometer app, it displays the current atmospheric pressure and estimated elevation measured by the OnePlus Watch 2. The Barometric readings captured by the wearable will be useful for hikers or mountain climbers. The Barometer app will not be useful for all users and is intended mostly for serious outdoor athletes.

The new update also brings other features and optimizations

The OnePlus Watch 2’s new update’s changelog reveals that it also brings some other features and optimizations. The wearable now optimizes data display during workouts, apart from optimizing some workout and health algorithms. The update brings support for accessing the Music Controller by simply swiping left while working out. There also are new features for the Phone app in Power Saver mode. It can now display contacts, favorite contacts, and call logs in the Power Saver mode.

Furthermore, the new OnePlus Watch 2 update brings the ability to turn off the tap-to-wake feature, which turns on the wearable’s display whenever the screen is touched. There also are a handful of new watch faces in the OHealth companion application after the update. Lastly, the new firmware fixes multiple known issues and bugs with the latest OnePlus smartwatch.

The firmware version of the latest OnePlus Watch 2 update is “A..94” or “OPWWE231_11_A.94” to be more specific. The update is rolling out in various regions, including the US, India, and some parts of Europe. The new firmware is being rolled out in a phased manner. It could take some time to reach all the OnePlus Watch 2 units across the globe.
